Black accents in kitchen design continue to trend strongly into 2022
Black is a classic color and always one of our favorite colors to design with. We are seeing black accents as a strong trend in 2022. It matches everything, goes with every style, instantly adds glam and sophistication, and is so versatile. Here are some of our favorite ways to add a pop of black in kitchen designs.
Cabinet Kitchen Hoods
A cabinetry hood in black adds such a statement to the kitchen. In the below Enchanted Kitchens project, the hood was custom designed and built in our Davis Mill & Cabinet product line. There are also a wide range of semi-custom black wood hood options. Or check out this gorgeous metal hood from Copper Smith: Premier PR5 - Custom Range Hood | CopperSmith (worldcoppersmith.com)
Kitchen Cabinets & Metal doors
There are so many ways to do black cabinets right now! You can use painted, opt for a black stain, or choose a black textured melamine. With the versatile options, once again you can hit every style. The Enchanted Kitchens project above uses a gorgeous matte black slab door. We also love including metal and glass shelving to break up a space with too many doors. Our Elements shelving brand is perfect for this! °eCubed Shelving Systems - ºelement Designs (element-designs.com) Bonus – they also offer beautiful black metal doors that we pair with our cabinetry.
If you are looking for a more transitional approach to adding black, our Decora Cabinets line offers great styling options Transitional Walnut and Maple Kitchen Cabinets - Decora Cabinetry (decoracabinets.com)
The Enchanted Kitchens project below shows black accents in a Mid-Century Modern Home. We use the Elements Shelves in black metal and the GE Café matte black appliances. It pairs wonderfully with red birch cabinetry.
Hardware
One of the easiest and most popular ways to add black accents in 2022 is hardware. Black hardware looks great on every cabinet color! Our hardware brand Richelieu offers several gorgeous and on trend styles like the half circles in the photo below, or our personal favorite: Contemporary Metal Pull - 6307 - Richelieu Hardware.
Tile
Black tile instantly adds a rich element of glamour. If you are not ready to do a full black backsplash, consider color blocking your tile and only adding it to one zone like your beverage area. I love the Cloe from Bedrosians featured in the photo below. Cloe 2.5" x 8" Ceramic Tile in Black | Bedrosians Tile & Stone Or what about this fun geometric option from Daltile Geometric Fusion (daltile.com) And add some dimension with this great Emser option EUPHORIA™ — Emser Tile.
Countertops
Dare to break out of the white tops trend and add some drama with black countertops. The Enchanted Kitchens project below features Black Mist honed granite. We are also swooning over Cambria’s new color, Kentucky Coal. It’s a fun black quartz with terrazzo vibes. Cambria Quartz Design Palette - Cambria® Quartz Surfaces (cambriausa.com)
Appliances
Now is a great time to think outside the stainless steel box and go for black appliances! So many manufacturers are offering gorgeous black finishes like shown in the GE Café double oven below. Added bonus – it makes your cabinet colors pop! There is a black appliance for every design style.
With all these lovely options it can be hard to decide where to start. Contact Enchanted Kitchens and let us help you design the perfect space complete with just the right number of black accents to work with your space and natural lighting.
